About Laurie Hagberg

I teach middle and high school English, including AP Language/Composition, in California. I love being a part of a team of enthusiastic learners, innovators, collaborators, and joyful people who love spending their days with kids.

I am passionate about teaching and about learning how we learn — this influences both my personal and professional pursuits. For much of my professional career, I have taught English, designing curriculum and sharing my passion for writing and literature with my students and peers. I also developed and directed the Academic Success Program at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, CA, for students with executive functioning weaknesses and/or learning issues. I raised and learned from my son who has ADHD; as a parent and teacher concerned about those with ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, and Autism, I created and maintain a website providing resources for families and teachers: “Outside the Box” at http://www.adhdkids.info.

  1. Dear Laurie,
I wrote a session some years ago, called “Gifted with Learning Disabilities” and presented it at the TAGT Conference. It is now part of the on-line staff development for parents and educators. I would like to keep in touch with you about this issue. Thank you for sharing the article.
    Kindest regards,
